Calabacito Rojo Tomato
Solanum lycopersicum
Collected for the Roughwood Seed Collection in 1991 by chef John Jividen, this super-rare Mixtec heirloom was discovered in the open market at Oaxaca, Mexico. This tomato landrace is depicted in European herbals as early as 1553 and thus is considered one of the original red tomatoes of the Aztecs. The small fruits (shown in the picture) conform to our other rare baby calabash tomato varieties, yet if the plants are well fertilized, they will produce large, ruffled fruit. Minimum 25 seeds. Germination 97%.
