This exceptionally rare bean from the colonial period may trace to the Shawnees who lived in Lancaster County during the 1700s. The bean was preserved among the Pennsylvania Dutch by Stauffer Mennonite Frank M. Weaver (1938-2008) of Farmersville, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Pods ripen yellow on 8-to-10-foot vines. Used locally in chowchows, as a red shelly bean, or as a baking bean. Minimum 25 seeds, $4.50. Germination 94%. Packed for 2025. LOTRW2024-BN192.
