Landis Winter Lettuce

The origins of this lettuce are still uncertain, but it appears to be a Pennsylvania Dutch selection of White Tennisball created by the now defunct Landis seed company in Ohio. We acquired our seed directly from the late lettuce collector Mary Schultz. This variety is winter hardy and will overwinter even when planted in December (in Zone 7a). Plant in mid-September, harvest all winter and spring from end of February to early April.
