Leutschauer Paprika Pepper CAP021

Capsicum annuum

This rare pepper was brought to Hungary from Slovakia in 1948 by a refugee of World War II. The pepper is believed to date to the 1840s and is one of the earliest peppers developed specifically for paprika.  It is an excellent drying pepper. 2 ½ to 3-foot-tall bushes produce an abundance of cone-shaped pods, 3 to 3 ½ inches long.  The peppers vary in heat: some are mildly hot while others are spicy. 25 seeds.
