Dating from the mid-1600s, this is the oldest documented Lenape pole bean tracing to Kingsessing, a seed-trading settlement at the end of the Great Minquas Path. Today it is a neighborhood in southwest Philadelphia. Leathery purple pods with purple-black seeds when ripe.
