Tennisball Lettuce or Passe-Partout

Lactuca sativa

We acquired our seed many years ago from Monticello because this winter lettuce was one of Thomas Jefferson’s favorites.  Given an abundance of confusing aliases in the 1700s, this variety does not show up as Tennisball until 1856 and even then, was valued mostly for its winter hardiness.  All the same, it is a delightful salad lettuce, one 10–12-inch head per person! Minimum 25 seeds, $4.50.  Germination 97%.  Packed for 2024. LOTRW2023-LET005.
