Vigna unguiculata
This rare cowpea from Botswana features unique, long pointed leaves and striking blue flowers so it is both ornamental and culinary. Better yet, it is extremely drought resistant and will yield at least two large crops over the course of the summer. Since it twines, it is grown like a pole bean on tall supports. The green pods are nutty in flavor and the dry beans make a wonderful addition to rice dishes or bean salads. This unique variety was found for us by heirloom seed collector Alan Reynolds of Hercules, South Africa.  Minimum 30 seeds per packet.
