Walker’s Great Valley Pole Bean
Phaseolus vulgaris
This rare bean from the 1700s was preserved by the Quaker Walker family of Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. The 6-to-7-foot vines produce long, narrow “caseknife” snap beans harvested when 5 to 6 inches long. Produces early in the summer.
