Yarnall Quaker Bean (Semi-Pole)
Phaseolus vulgaris
This rare early season bush bean will yield crops by mid-July in the Delaware Valley (Zone 7a) where it was developed. Used in traditional cookery as a soup or baking bean, this heirloom from the 1700s was carried South by Quakers into Appalachia. It is related to another old Quaker variety called Burlington Bush and may descend from a Lenape Indian cultivar from the 1760s Brotherton Reservation. 25 seeds
